BIOGRAPHY

Jon quickly joined the University’s radio station URB and locked himself in the studios through many nights and taught himself the basic concepts of beat matching and mixing. It was painful at first, but soon the beats fell into place. His radio show The Red Zone went out from 3-6pm on Sundays and featured all the best House tracks from the previous 4 years. The last hour was Jon’s hotmix section – productions from David Morales and The Masters At Work featured heavily. Soon this hotmix section was recorded and sent to a student station in New York, WSIA FM, to be re-broadcast. Through minimal effort Jon had somehow gone international.

The University developed it’s Student Union in the summer of 1994 and The Venue was built, a club with a capacity of 800 and a killer sound system. When the
club manager asked URB to provide a DJ,Jon was put forward as he had the biggest record collection – it was a logical choice. The thought of playing his records before 800 punters terrified Jon at first, yet he soon discovered that his knowledge of current music and his inspired tune selection could rock the party every time.Jon made a fantastic friend by the name of Daniel Cunningham, a lad from Manchester who accidentally stood on Jon’s foot. This might sound trivial, but in first meeting Dan via a bruised toe and swollen ankle, Jon developed more and more confidence as a serious club DJ.
