From : Disco To : Disco – Wall Of Sound (1999)
I have to honest here, this went right over my head the first time around, but I heard Max Baines drop it at a recent We Love Sundays night in Bath and I just had to source a copy for myself, downloading it onto a crappy CD was not gonna be enough! The mighty Wall Of Sound put this out on the Dark Dancer LP sampler (pictured) and to put it mildly, this track GOES OFF! As with many LRD trax, this was certainly ahead of it’s time…
- Chris Rea
– Josephine (La Version Francaise) - Magnet/WEA (1989)
In it’s original form this was arguably an average Chris Rea offering, but in ’89 it received a tasty re-record and appeared on the flip to The Road To Hell (12” only). This French version was actually written and recorded in Montreaux in Feb ’87, certainly before House music had properly arrived in Europe. Yet the production demonstrates the advent of House, it has a huge sound and Rea’s voice fills any room with ease. Emotive to the core, this record never fails to move the crowd. A big favourite with Danny Rampling, this deserves to qualify for any Classic Top 10 chart. The scan shows the standard UK release.
