CLASSIC HOUSE TOP 10
  1. Rodney Franklin
    – The Groove – Columbia (1980)

Before Disco fizzled out in the early 80s Rodney Franklin came up with The Groove, fusing disco, jazz, funk, and soul into one heavy track. This still sounds fresh more than 25 years later and generates plenty of enquiries when played. I’m lucky to own an original US demonstration pressing (pictured), it plays the same on both sides so it’s not gonna wear out!.

  2. Uncanny Alliance – I Got My Education - A&M (1992)

Bitchy NYC house from the early 90s, A&M realised it’s potential for the dance market and it remained an underground anthem for many years. Sadly it never gained commercial recognition, so it sits proudly in my classic #10 spot. The UK promo issue is shown here.
